SUITE GLAZED POUND CAKE

The Cake INGREDIENTS:

3 cups Red Band plain flour

3 cups sugar

2 sticks butter (softened)

½ cup vegetable oil

5 eggs

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla flavoring

1 tsp lemon flavoring

1 tsp almond flavoring

1 tsp salt

½ tsp baking powder

 

PREPARATION:

Place all dry ingredients in one bowl. Place eggs, milk, and vanilla flavoring, lemon flavoring, and almond flavoring in second bowl.  In a third bowl place sugar, butter, oil and cream. Mix all ingredients in the three bowls then alternately begin adding one in to another a little at a time, ending with the dry ingredients being added at the end.  It is important that the dry ingredients are added at the end in order for the cake to rise properly. Place the cake ingredients in a lightly oiled bunt cake pan and bake in a pre-heated oven at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

 

The Glaze INGREDIENTS:

1 cup sugar

½ cup water

1 tsp lemon flavoring

1 tsp vanilla flavoring

1 tsp almond flavoring

When cake is done baking prepare the glaze by placing 1 cup sugar, ½ cup water, 1 tsp lemon flavoring, 1 tsp almond flavoring, and 1 tsp vanilla flavoring in a sauce pan and bring to boil. Remove from stove and while cake and glaze are warm, spoon glaze over the cake, allowing it to soak into the cake.

 

FRUIT SURPRISE: Just for fun and decorative appeal, slice some peaches, strawberries, or fresh pineapple and place around bottom of cake between the folds formed by the bunt pan.
